Montreal police are looking for a suspect after a Molotov cocktail was hurled into an Italian cafe.

The attack happened at 4:30 Friday morning at a cafe located on Dante near Saint Dominique, in Little Italy.

According to police one man threw the incendiary device through a ground-floor window, but the flames failed to produce a significant amount of damage before they were extinguished.

A table, some chairs, and the floor were burned.

"Someone was seen walking away on Casgrain south right after the event occurred," said Constable Anie Lemieux, however police do not have a good description of the man.

Nine arrests in firebombing attacks

Between September 2009 and January 2010 there were at least 18 firebombing attacks at Italian cafes in eastern and northern Montreal.

Police assigned a task force to the crimes, and in May nine people were arrested and five, including a minor were charged.

This did not stop Molotov cocktail attacks in the city-- at least five establishments were firebombed in a 24-hour span in early June, and a Lebanese restaurant in Cartierville was attacked twice in one week.
