Hundreds of people gathered at the CTV studios in Montreal Saturday for a glimpse inside the newsroom.
Curious visitors were led by guided tours from reporters through the newsroom, editing suites, control room, and the studio as part of a nationwide open house at all CTV affiliates.
"I loved coming in and seeing how it was all done because when I'm watching the news, I'm always trying to think how those stories are put on," said Ryan Salvador.
They met with local television personalities, including anchors Mutsumi Takahashi, Todd van der Heyden and Lori Graham, as well as reporters and crew.
A highlight was meeting Executive Producer Barry Wilson, said fan Anne-Marie Fookchong.
"His Postscripts have always amazed me. I find they come out so eloquently, so poetically and I always wondered how he comes up with them every week," said Fookchong.
Visitors were shown how the CTV News team gathers information, writes the newscast, edits stories, updates the website, directs the broadcast and presents the news, sports and weather.
Minister of Government Services Michelle Courchesne popped by for a tour to see how the news makes it to air.
"It's interesting," said Courchesne. "I have to learn some things about TV. I think its a great, great idea to open house to everyone."
For aspiring reporter Simon Berard, it was a look into a potential future.
"I like getting the story and I like seeing my work published in the newspaper," he said.
