The funeral service for Anne-Sophie Turcotte,3, and Olivier Turcotte,5, was held Monday in Pointe-Aux-Trembles.

Many in the community are still dealing with the deaths of the two children, including Priest Raymond Gravel. He says he barely slept over the weekend.

"I don't know why this happened," he said to reporters before the funeral. "I can't answer why this happened. I can't rewind the tape of what's happened."

He told reporters he also wanted to speak with Guy Turcotte, "not to judge him, but just to help."

The service was restricted to friends and family, and featured music the children enjoyed. The funeral home could hold only about 125 people.

The children's mother Isabelle Gaston, has not spoken to the media, but Gravel did say that she believes her children would want her to continue to enjoy her life. He also said she believes they will be reunited one day.

Deaths

The children's bodies were found were found in the rented Piedmont home of their father, Cardiologist Guy Turcotte on Saturday, Feb. 21.

Guy Turcotte has been charged with two counts of first degree murder.
