Three families are homeless after a major fire in LaSalle broke out in a two-storey building early Wednesday morning.
The call came in at 2:30 a.m. and the blaze quickly escalated to a five-alarm fire.
At the start, over 120 firefighters were at the scene with ladders trying to get the fire under control, but the flames spread rapidly from the ground floor to the roof.
The building located at 7703 Centrale street, near the intersection of 8th Avenue, has a business on the first floor and four apartments on the second storey.
All the occupants were able to escape without injury, said firefighter spokesperson Josée Gosselin. The Red Cross are helping the eight residents as they will not likely be able to return to their homes.
Investigators will be looking into the cause of the blaze.
