MONTREAL - An early morning fire destroyed a building under construction in Montreal.

The fire started at 3 a.m. in a condominium project at the corner of Lajeunesse and Chabanel roads, forcing the evacuation of several adjoining buildings.

30 people had to leave their homes but none of them were hurt.

60 firefighters were unable to contain the flames before they spread to one of those adjacent buildings.

The condo is a total loss, but the second building only sustained damage to its roof.

One firefighter fractured his wrist.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
