Two months after city council adopted a new code of ethics, Montreal's auditor general has launched an ethics hotline and website to report abuse and fraud.
Employees, councillors, suppliers and members of the public who uncover any irregularities are encouraged to report them via telephone or online.
Jacques Bergeron, Montreal's auditor general, will then make an independent investigation into the claim.
"We're not encouraging people to snitch on their neighbours, but if people do have evidence of wrongdoing or evidence of something that might be outside the rules, we'd like to know about it," said Montreal city councillor Marvin Rotrand,
