LANORAIE - One man is dead and a woman is injured after a car crash in the lower Laurentians.

Around 9:30 p.m. Monday a driver heading west on Highway 40 lost control of his vehicle near the town of Lanoraie, about 50 km northeast of Montreal.

The car rolled several times, going through a crash barrier before coming to rest on its roof on an embankment.

The driver was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital, while the passenger is in critical condition.

Police believe poor road conditions contributed to the crash.
