One man has died after being shot overnight in a Valleyfield home.
Someone called 9-1-1 around 1 a.m., and when police and paramedics arrived they found a man, believed to be in his thirties, with a serious gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Surete du Quebec set up a command centre near Ewing St. and Sainte Claire St. as they begun their investigation of what they consider a deliberate assassination.
Police plan to speak to neighbours, and family of the victim, to determine what may have led up to the deadly attack.
