MONTREAL- Francesco Bruno, owner of Montreal-based BT Ceramics has a very large bill to pay.
The ceramics company owner was ordered Tuesday to hand over $1.29 million to the Canada Revenue Agency after pleading guilty to charges of funneling money to shell companies owned by Tony Accurso.
Those companies, Simard-Beaudry Construction and Louisbourg Limited Construction had previously been fined $4.1 million in fines in separate cases.
Bruno was given bogus invoices in return for cash as part of the scheme, which lasted between 2004 and 2008.
Meanwhile Canada Revenue is investigating nine employees on allegations that they were influenced by people with ties to the construction industry.
