MONTREAL - It's a sure sign of spring – the BIXI installation process has begun.
The popular bicycle-sharing program will launch its third season April 15.
During the next three weeks, up to 30 stations per day will be installed, from Saturdays to Thursdays.
BIXI officials say the majority of its 400 stations will be available as of April 15, with bikes becoming available shortly before then.
Almost 3,000 Montrealers are BIXI members and in its 2010 season, the company saw over 2 million trips in its network.
Originating in Montreal, BIXI has five bike-sharing programs worldwide.
