The baby of a pregnant woman who died shortly after giving birth in Quebec City this week is doing well, according to a family member.
On Wednesday, Marie-Pier Gagne was struck by a speeding car as she was crossing the street. While Gagne didn't survive, doctors did manage to deliver her daughter, who has been named Alexe.
Gagne’s brother-in-law revealed the update in a Facebook post in which he also said his brother is surrounded by loved ones and thanks people for their support.
Emilie Marceau, Gagne’s cousin, has raised more than $45,000 for the father and child through a crowdsourcing campaign.
