Three people died and a fourth was critically injured when two vehicles collided Saturday night in St. Cyprien de Napierville, about 50 kilometres south of Montreal.

While driving on Route 221, a driver tried to pass another car on the right and lost control of his car, colliding with an oncoming car.

The driver, who is in his 30s, was in critical condition in hospital. The three occupants in the other car died.

A third car was involved in the crash, but no one in that car was injured.

The SQ says speed may have been a factor in the crash.
