Longueuil police are confirming that a woman shot and killed overnight in her home was murdered.

The 35-year-old woman was at home with her two children, a 12-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy, when she hit by the fatal gunfire  at around 3:45 a.m. Friday.

Her daughter called 9-1-1 and performed CPR until paramedics arrived at the Dandurand St. home, at which point the woman was rushed to hospital where doctors were unable to save her life.

Neither of the children was hurt.

Police have set up a command post at Dandurand and Dugas and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Those reluctant to do so in person are asked to call 450-463-7211.

"For now we have no description or any identity of the suspects we can give out," said Const.Mark David.

They also searched the neighbourhood Friday morning, including with dog teams, to find any trace of the murderer.

Police say the woman and children lived alone, but could not say if they had previously visited the house.

Other media reports stated that neighbours had noticed a lot of activity at the home on the otherwise quiet street in recent times and found the comings-and-goings to be suspicious.
