One woman is under arrest after a fire broke out early Friday morning inside a house at 8021 Gustave Bleau St. in eastern Montreal.

Police say the 51-year-old woman in custody has a history of erratic behaviour. It is not known what charges she may face.

Officers said the woman was playing with matches in the basement of the house and started the fire around 1:15 a.m.

Flames spread throughout the bungalow, causing an estimated $100,000 worth of damage.

When firefighters arrived the man and woman inside the house had managed to get out on their own, and the man was taken to hospital and treated for shock.
