For the past 25 years a local shelter has organized an initiative to help the homeless during Montreal winters.

Accueil Bonneau gathered more than 30 volunteers on Saturday to help better equip those living on the streets.

The shelter says winters in Quebec can be challenging and so it collected warm clothes such as coats, wool sweaters, socks, hats and mittens. Volunteers distributed the clothes to Montrealers in need.

The team also handed out toiletries and addressed hunger by giving away sandwiches and snacks.
