A two-alarm fire broke out Thursday morning in eastern Montreal.

The fire started in a duplex on Notre Dame St. at 4th Ave. around 5:30 a.m. and quickly spread through the building.

Sixty firefighters rushed to the scene and spent more than three hours battling flames and putting out hotspots.

Damage to the basement, the main floor, the top floor and the roof is estimated at $150,000.

The owner and basement tenants were already outside by the time firefighters arrived, and had made other arrangements for emergency shelter.

Nobody was hurt.
