The taxi driver shot in St. Leonard early Thursday morning has died.

Pierre Isnard-Amy, 36, was found bleeding behind the wheel of his car after he was shot at least once in the upper body.

No suspects have been arrested.

“There's a still a lot of expertise to perform, especially on the car and on the victim's body. There were two men, aged 25 and 26, who were questioned by the investigator. They were released free of all accusation,” said Montreal spokesperson Manuel Couture, adding that the investigation continues.

“There's going to be a meeting with potential witnesses, investigators are going to look if there was cameras outside on homes, in the streets,” he said.

Late Thursday, police said they've determined the shooting was not related to the driver's line of work and that robbery wasn’t a motive.

Nevertheless, the incident has shocked Stanley Bastien, manager of Coop de l’Est Taxi, where Isnard-Amy was employed.

“I think it's one of the things that cab drivers don't want to hear about because this is something very, very difficult to live through,” said Bastien. “You never know how your day's going to end.”

Bastien said Isnard-Amy had only been working for the company for six months, and he didn’t get to know him, adding that he was a good driver and had never received any complaints about him.

“Just after 2 in the morning, he got a call in the area and from there we don't know what happened. So he did go there to pick someone up… he didn't activate the alert system,” said Bastien.

Bastien said the company’s administration with gather Tuesday to find a way to collect money to help the Isnard-Amy’s family. Bastien said Isnard-Amy has a daughter and did not have any insurance.
