Search and rescue crews looking in the St. Lawrence River near Laroraie for a couple in their sixties have found them.

The pair went boating in the river on Wednesday morning about 30 km downstream of the eastern tip of Montreal.

Family and friends contacted authorities around eight hours later when they had not been heard from.

The Sureté du Quebec and the Canadian Coast Guard, as well as the Armed Forces, patrolled the river and its banks for the missing couple.

They were found around 9 a.m. Thursday, unharmed.
