An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale hit the western Quebec Wednesday evening.

The quake, which began at 6 p.m., was centered between Rigaud and Hawkesbury, Ont., near the Quebec-Ontario border, but there were reports of it being felt as far away as Sainte-Agathe.

There was no reported damage, but the rumble did startle patrons and workers at Stephanie’s Grill and Bar in Hawkesbury.

“I just felt a huge boom, I thought somebody fell down or something, all the glasses were shaking upstairs,” employee Liam Dias told CTV Ottawa.

Patron Cody Higgins, who was inside the restaurant at the time, echoed Dias's comments. “We felt a vibration and you heard the glass shake, you heard upstairs and it sounded like someone fell,” he said.

There are no reported injuries and a representative for the SQ said they did not receive a single call about the quake.
