Pierre Karl Peladeau is set to make it official; the front-runner in the race to lead the Parti Quebecois is expected to confirm he will seek the leadership of the party in the next three weeks.

Before seeking the support of the party's supporters in the seven-month leadership race, Peladeau is organizing a party for former premier Bernard Landry.

This Saturday, Nov. 15, Peladeau is throwing a celebratory bash at the Contemporary Art Museum of the Laurentians in Saint Jerome.

Sources say Peladeau has yet to choose a date to officially announce his candidacy, but is leaning toward the end of November.

Peladeau is the controlling shareholder of Quebecor, the largest private media company in Quebec.

He has faced harsh criticism because he has promised to put his shares in a trust if named party leader, but has repeatedly said that his shares in Quebecor will never be sold.

In the past month the Ethics Commissioner of the National Assembly has said it is acceptable for Peladeau to hold his shares as long as he is an MNA, but has yet to decide if he could do so as a party leader.

In October the National Assembly voted to ban MNAs from owning majority shares in a media company.
