The American tourist who was the victim of a hit and run over the weekend remains in serious but stable condition as Montreal police continue their investigation.
Zachary Zelinsky, 30, suffered significant head injuries after he was struck at 2:15 a.m. Saturday in a parking lot on St. Laurent Blvd. at the corner of De Maisonneuve Blvd.
Zelinsky was visiting Montreal from Florida and police believe he was travelling alone.
His father Mark took to Facebook to say Zachary suffered a severe brain injury and had emergency surgery, and that doctors are encouraged by his current condition.
He said Zachary will stay sedated until his brain swelling lessens.
His father, mother and a friend all made the trip to Montreal to be with him in hospital.
Zelinsky works for the medical supply company Medical Outfitters with headquarters in Miami.
Police are still searching for the suspect, believed to be driving a small dark car.
Investigators confirm the suspect and the victim were talking before the incident took place, and they are still trying to determine what their relationship is.
The car headed north on St. Laurent.
They released the video below in hopes the public will help identifying it.
They are also looking for any witnesses to come forward; in the video people can be seen in the top of the frame.
