MONTREAL - One of Montreal's marquee charity events, the World Partnership Walk, will take place at Jean-Drapeau Park this weekend for the Aga Khan foundation.

An organization that has operated in Canada for over 30 years, the Aga Khan foundation raises money for projects in east Africa, south and central Asia.

"These are programs directed at helping the rural poor and oriented towards developing self-sustainability at the village level," said Jennifer Morrow, a volunteer with the foundation.

"Whether it's building a school or digging a well, these are very simple things that can have a big impact."

All of proceeds from to walk go to helping with the foundation's overseas programs.

According to the walk's convenor, Ashina Sheriff, a global village has been organized near the walk where participants and spectators can see examples of the foundation's programs.
