Montreal police are investigating after a man was found unconscious on the sidewalk in the St-Michel borough early Tuesday morning.
The man in his 50’s was found around 5:45 a.m. on 45th St. near Pie IX, unresponsive, with severe head injuries.
He was transported to hospital where he remains in critical condition. Police believe that there’s reason to fear for his life.
A perimeter has been set up in the area and police will be conducting door-to-door interviews Tuesday to collect additional information about the incident.
Police say the man was assaulted.
Police have been unable to establish whether the victim is known to authorities.
