A family is urging the public to come forward with any information about Samantha Higgins, a 22-year-old mother who has been missing since Tuesday.

“I just want her to come home,” said mother Vanessa Higgins. “My granddaughter's birthday is on the 15th. Samantha would be home for her daughter's birthday. She's turning four. Where is she?”

Police are investigating Samantha’s disappearance. She was last seen leaving a friend’s house in Lasalle around midnight on July 7.

“She was supposed to return home that night, so her boyfriend was immediately worried,” said cousin Amanda McKernan. “When she didn’t return home the next day, it was just natural to go to the police station and make a report, because this is really abnormal.”

The friend whose house she left texted her, asking if she had gotten home safely.

Samantha replied, “Yes, I’m home safe.”

The family believes somebody else may have replied, using her phone.

I'm hoping and praying that she's somewhere and she's safe,” said aunt Laurie McKernan. “Maybe she's afraid to come home and what she needs to know is that she shouldn't be afraid. If anyone has her, we don't care. Just return her. There will be no questions at all. It's just that she needs to come home.”

Higgins is 1.57 m (5'2'') tall and weighs 68 kg (150 lb), with brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a pink dress the last time she was seen.

Police say anyone with details on her disappearance should contact Info-Crime at 514-393-1133.
