Police say a 40-year-old man broke into an apartment Friday afternoon and abducted a child.
Around 12:20 p.m. the man forced his way into a home on Rodolphe Forget Blvd. north of Maurice Duplessis Blvd.
According to officers he abducted the child and took him to another building.
Someone called 9-1-1 and police quickly tracked down the man to the other building. As soon as they arrived the man let the child go.
About an hour later the man surrendered to police and was questioned by detectives. He is set to be arraigned in court on Monday.
Police are recommending charges of breaking and entering, assault, domestic violence and more.
The mother and child are in good health.
