A man has been charged with first-degree murder following a stabbing in Viger Square Sunday.

Paul Evans Gordon Gray, 36, appeared in court Wednesday and was charged with first-degree murder and armed assault.

A 35-year-old woman, Tamara Chandler, also appeared in court to face charges of being an accessory after the fact to the alleged murder.

The Montreal police's major crimes unit made the two arrests Tuesday.

A 44-year-old man was found by police officers lying on ground in a critical state early Sunday morning on St. Denis St. near Viger St. He had been stabbed, police say.

He was brought to hospital where he was pronounced dead. It was the 22nd homicide of year.
