Two people had to be hospitalized after a fire broke out in their Fabre St. building overnight.

The fire began around 3 a.m. in a duplex on Fabre St. near Belanger St. in the Rosemont-Petite Patrie borough.

Sixty firefighters tackled the flames and smoke for an hour and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to connecting buildings, but were not able to save the duplex on fire.

Damage is estimated at $75,000 and will need to be repaired before the residents are able to return home.

The cause of the fire is not known.
