Explosion, major fire at St. Michel tire store

A major fire broke out in a tire store on Pie IX Blvd. near 43^rd St. in St. Michel on Wednesday evening.

Montreal police received a call at 7:50 p.m. about an explosion inside the building.

That explosion sparked the blaze at Centre de Pneus Pie IX.

Police don’t believe any one was inside the building at the time, and there have been no evacuations.

Pie IX was closed between Industriel and 39^th St. and Industriel Blvd. for much of the evening.
