An earthquake rumbled in the Outaouais region overnight.
Around 4 a.m. the ground moved approximately 30 km east of Buckingham, Quebec, about halfway between Buckingham and Hawkesbury.
The temblor was felt in Ottawa and Montreal.
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake is unlikely to cause any damage or injuries, and so far none has been reported.
On the west coast, aftershocks of about the same magnitude are still occurring in the Queen Charlotte Islands, after a 7.7 earthquake hit that region on Oct. 27.
Last month a 4.5 magnitude earthquake hit Montreal just after midnight on Oct. 10, and a small, 2.3 magnitude quake was felt in Pointe Claire and parts of the West Island.
