It’s that time of year again – it’s time to change the time.

A glorious weekend is reminding Montrealers that spring is upon us. It’s also time to spring the clocks forward. As of 2 a.m., it will become 3 a.m. That’s right – we’re losing an hour of sleep Sunday morning.

As is custom, firefighters are reminding residents to also let this semi-annual tradition lend itself to another tradition, too – to change the batteries in your smoke detector.

In Montreal, according to the authorities, more than 75 per cent of homes now have working smoke alarms, up from only 50 per cent 25 years ago.
