Quebec's financial watchdog is cracking down on unlicensed automatic teller machines.
Charges have been laid against 10 businesses for operating ATMs without permits.
The businesses are liable to fines of up to $15,000.
Proceedings have been initiated against the following:
- 404 Solutions inc. (operating under the name Brisket Montréal-Salon Krausmann)
- 9316-7443 Québec inc.
- Bar Aigle Noir
- Café Bar Padula inc.
- Dépanneur Datang
- Gestion Pierre Latourelle inc. (operating under the name Bar Pub Maisonneuve)
- Le Jardin de Lin Ching
- Resto l'entrepôt Mont-Royal Ltée
- Women's Wellness Centre
- Yuan Zhou
The Autorité des marchés financiers licenses the machines in efforts to prevent money laundering.
