The borough of Cote des Neiges/Notre Dame de Grace is planning more roadwork for the next two months -- because work done this summer came in under budget.

In May the borough announced it would spend $17 million to revamp 24.2 km of roads and 18 km of sidewalks, including such major streets at Somerled Ave., NDG Blvd., and De Maisonneuve Ave.

But the work is almost entirely complete, finished ahead of time and undedr budget.

With spare cash and more roads to fix, Borough Mayor Russell Copeman said work would continue for the next six weeks.

"We will have been able, by the end of this year, to pave almost 173 street blocks. It's an astounding amount of investment," said Copeman.

During October and November crews will work on 1.4 km of secondary streets that are in need of repair, as well as another 7.5 km of sidewalks.
