Montreal's Latin Quarter district has been under a boil water advisory since Thursday night after a water main break earlier in the week.

The city of Montreal said an electrical subcontractor broke the eight-inch pipe on Sanguinet Street Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.

Residents were without water on Sanguinet St., between De Boisbriand St. and Emery St., and on De Maisonneuve Blvd, between St. Denis St. and Sanguinet.

It was repaired Thursday at 9 p.m.

The city put out the advisory afterwards and said it will be in place until they get laboratory results confirming the water is safe to drink.
