A body was found on the bank of the St. Lawrence River in the town of Varennes in the Monteregie region on Tuesday afternoon.

The body was found at 4:00 p.m. by a passerby who notified local police. After arriving on the scene, officers requested reinforcements from Surete du Quebec, who have taken over the investigation.

There were no marks of violence on the man’s body.

Crime scene technicians were brought on the scene and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the man’s identity and the cause of death.
