Twenty years after its founding, the Adaptive Sports Foundation is expanding its scope.

“We’ve opened it up to everyone, anyone with a physical disability,” said Executive Director Steve Charbonneau. “We are probably going to serve about 250 people.”

The foundation helps people with disabilities learn to take part in adaptive sports like skiing, water-skiing and kayaking.

“People with brain traumas, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, we accommodate their needs and modify the equipment to accommodate just about every skier,” said volunteer instructor Derek Nichols.
