It's been over a year since 15-year-old Tylor Glasgow was killed in the Mohawk community of Kahnawake, and its members continue to heal.

Struck down by a car after a high-speed police chase in August 2008, his family has now turned the site of his tragic death into a serene space people look forward to visiting.

Dubbed "Tylor's Corner," the green space includes some shrubbery, a bench and a memorial plaque.

It didn't always look that way, said Tylor's mother, Jewel McGowan.

"I wouldn't be able to look at it. It wasn't a nice place-- it was barren. Just rocks, gravel," said McGowan.

But now, it's a place where she reconnects with her lost son.

"When I come by I see people sitting here, the kids are playing. That's what it's here for," she explained.

The cobblestone pathway is filled with messages of love, a memorial to the boy they lost, and a reminder to never allow it to happen again.

"When any accident like this happens, not just on the territory of Kahnawake, but anywhere, there is an initial crackdown, and then the pressure eases up," said Tylor's aunt, Maggie Mayo, an 18-year veteran Peacekeeper on the reserve.

The 25-year-old driver involved in this case has been charged with criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death, and with refusing to stop for a police officer. He's in jail awaiting his trial.
