MONTREAL—Two men were arrested early Tuesday morning in Ahuntsic-Cartieville after throwing a Molotov cocktail through the front window of a fruit market on Fleury St.

According to Montreal police spokesman Yannick Ouimet, the criminal fire was set at around 3:45 a.m. at a Euro Marche in the largely residential area. Witnesses saw both men walking along Fleury St. pushing over garbage cans and pulling down signs, then they heard glass break.

While nearby police officers quickly arrested the duo, flames spread quickly through the market. Over 60 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was finally brought under control before dawn.

Two apartments above the market were unoccupied at the time of the fire.
