Thursday morning, Tony Tomassi was the Liberal representative for the riding of Lafontaine.
A day later, the MNA is on his own - no longer a Quebec minister, and no longer part of the Liberal party.
Already, his name has been stricken from the party roster and website.
Premier Jean Charest fired Tony Tomassi and ejected him from the Liberal caucus after learning that he had used a credit card belonging to the BCIA security company for his own ends.
BCIA was under fire itself for having lost millions in private and government investments, and had recently filed for bankruptcy.
Thursday morning, newspaper reports revealed that the president of the BCAI, Luigi Coretti, was a close friend of Tomassi, and big contributor to the Quebec Liberal Party.
There were even allegations that Coretti used his employees to make thousands of dollars in additional donations to the Quebec Liberals in order to help Tomassi
Though Charest said that Tomassi used the BCIA credit card before being elevated to the rank of Minister of Family, he still described the MNA's actions and admission as troubling.
The premier would not say who informed him of the credit card issue.
Even before Thursday's revelations, Tomassi had become a focal point of opposition allegations of government favoritism and illegal fundraising methods.
The premier would not go so far as to say that Tomassi did anything illegal but he has asked the Surete du Quebec to investigate.
Immigration and Cultural Communities Minister Yolande James has taken on responsibilities for the Family.
