TROIS-RIVIERES -- Several young people clutched each other and sobbed as they realized they had probably lost a friend after three bodies were found in a residence on Tuesday in Trois-Rivieres, Que.

Police were called to the scene and said they arrested two minors just as the youngsters were leaving the home.

They later said the victims were two young women and a young man. Their ages were not made public.

Police identified the suspects as 17-year-old boys.

A group of people, who said they were friends of someone who lived in the home, gathered on the street at the edge of the police perimeter.

Most of them were teenagers who had left school after they heard the news.

They said they were waiting for the grim confirmation that their friend was one of the victims.

"We think that one of the three victims is our friend," said one teen, a Grade 11 student who added she had known her friend since primary school.

"We're waiting for the confirmation because we don't know anything."

Another teenage classmate said she last saw her friend Monday afternoon, at the end of the school day.

"I remember (my friend) said, 'Bye' to me before getting on the bus," she said.

Neighbours as well as curious people who live in other parts of Trois-Rivieres converged on the suburban residential street to see all the police vehicles and media.

Police had roped off a large perimeter around the two-storey home, limiting what could be seen of the property.

The outside of the residence, which had at least one car in its driveway and a basketball net, offered few clues that it was a crime scene, except for a shattered second-floor window.

Trois-Rivieres is midway between Montreal and Quebec City.
