The prosecution at the trial of Tania Pontbriand introduced physical evidence Wednesday morning that the former high school teacher had indeed had sex with the alleged victim in the case.
It presented a sleeping bag that the then-15-year-old boy said had been used by the pair on a camping trip.
The bag had been washed once in the past decade, but there are stains on the bag, and a biologist was able to confirm that the stains were those of male and female sexual fluids.
The biologist also testified that DNA tests confirmed the fluids were from Pontbriand and the now 25-year-old man at the heart of the case.
This is the first physical piece of evidence introduced at the trial, and the prosecutions says it backs up the young man's contention that he and Pontbriand had sex on multiple occasions over a lengthy period of time.
Under cross-examination, the defence asked the biologist if it was possible the two DNA profiles might have been left in the sleeping bag on two separate occasions, to which she replied that while possible, it was unlikely. The tests could not determine how old the stains were.
Pontbriand has always denied that any physical activity ever took place between her and the alleged victim.
Earlier this week the young man, who cannot be identified, was cross-examined about the affair.
On Thursday his mother is scheduled to testify.
She has previously said that she had suspicions about what her son was doing with Pontbriand, at that at one point she confronted the pair.
That argument led to a long, loud, verbal battle, and to this day she remains estranged from her son.
