MONTREAL - The three largest student groups have stated that increased student loans will not lead them to stop their demonstrations.
CLASSE, FECQ and FEUQ say the idea to improve loan programs for students will only leave university graduates deeper in debt.
They also say that if the government is serious about saving money, they should give students a chance to examine university budgets .
"For us the tuition freeze is not negotiable," said Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois of CLASSE. "The problem with the discourse of Mme. Beauchamp is that she presents this as inevitable. Well in fact there are other ways that we can use to fund our universities. Better ways, more fair ways."
The student groups say they have been in touch with the Ministry of Education, and expect a response over the Easter weekend.
