Hang in there, Montrealers – spring-like temperatures will finally show up starting later this week.

According to Environment Canada meteorologist Bruno Marquis, starting Thursday temperatures will be a little warmer and closer to seasonal norms.

A system from the U.S. west coast will make its way east and string along some mild air. The forecast in Montreal for Thursday is sunny skies and a balmy 9C.

Marquis explained at that time of year in Montreal, the mercury usually rises to about 7C during the day and slides down to -2C overnight.

However, the maximum for Sunday was just over freezing while the expected low is -7C.

For now, the daytime temperature is supposed to hover around there for Friday and Saturday, but it's also supposed to rain.
