Police are investigating a drowning at the Mont Saint-Sauveur Water Park.

Wednesday afternoon, a nine-year-old boy was found unconscious in the park's wave pool.

"People started screaming when they noticed a mass submerged in the water," said Surete du Quebec Officer Benoit Richard. "Then lifeguards dove in trying to save him."

Lifeguards undertook CPR maneuvers while waiting for ambulance technicians to arrive at the scene.

When the boy got to hospital, he was declared dead.

The child was on a school outing with classmates from a Laval area school.
