MONTREAL - Montreal-based dairy food giant Saputo is no longer accepting milk from Chilliwack Cattle Sales.

That's the British Columbia farm where a number of employees were captured on video beating cattle.

Saputo says it using its position as Canada's largest milk processor to ensure the situation is being addressed and that such behaviour does not happen again.

The company says it has reached out to B-C's minister of agriculture as well as other stakeholders in the industry.

Chilliwack Cattle fired eight employees after the group Mercy for Animals Canada took the video to authorities.

The S-P-C-A has recommended criminal charges against them but to date no charges have been laid and nothing has been proven in court.

The farm's owner, Jeff Kooyman, says he will install security cameras and work with the S-P-C-A on better training for staff.

Saputo has 24 cheese-producing plants across Canada.
