Another PQ MNA has suffered serious injuries after taking a spill from his bicycle.

Sylvain Gaudreault, PQ MNA for Jonquiere, suffered a fractured hip after falling off his bicycle while riding in Saguenay Tuesday morning.

Gaudreault fell off his bicycle after riding over a large bump in the road on St. Damien Road, which one resident told CTV Montreal has been the subject of many past complaints. The bump reappears regularly in spite regular repairs, according to Robert Trudeau.

The 43-year-old former transport minister was operated on and is expected to remain in hospital for several days. His convalescence is expected to last several months.

Gaudreault, an avid cyclist, was a CEGEP teacher and journalist before being elected to the National Assembly in 2007. He has long been considered a leader in the LGBT population.

In May, fellow PQ MNA Pierre Karl Peladeau suffered multiple fractures after a bicycle accident near Mount Orford in the Eastern Townships.
