Montreal's political parties are deciding which candidates will make the cut as they solidify their electoral slates in advance of this fall's election.
On Sunday mayor Gerald Tremblay presented the Union Montreal candidates for the city's Southwest borough.
Since borough mayor Jacqueline Montpetit has decided to leave politics, her right-hand woman, Nicole Boudreau, will be running as the Union Montreal candidate.
This is a bit of a coup for Tremblay, since Montpetit has known Vision Montreal's mayor candidate Louise Harel for years.
Boudreau is a longtime separatist, and a former president of the St. Jean Baptiste Society (SSJB).
Other U-M candidates for the borough include incumbent councillor Pierre Frechette, and newcomers Danielle Godbout, Daniel Belanger, and Diane Robitaille Pignoloni.

Meanwhile Louise Harel presented her picks to run in the Ville-Marie borough.
Incumbent borough mayor and oppositon leader Benoit Labont, along with Denise Dussault and Francois Robillard, will vie to become councillors.
Harel also added another campaign plank, saying if elected, she will call on the provincial government to change the city's charter so Ville-Marie residents can once again elect a borough mayor.
Under Tremblay's urging when Labont jumped ship, the province agreed that the mayor of Montreal would act as Ville-Marie borough mayor, and also appoint three councillors to the borough's council.
