Sidney Crosby and David Perron came through in the shootout as the Pittsburgh Penguins grabbed a 4-3 win against the visiting Montreal Canadiens.
Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais missed their shots for Montreal, leading to the overtime loss.
Pascal Dupuis, Olli Maatta and Patric Hornqvist scored in regulation time for the Penguins, who have won seven of their last eight games. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 32 pucks, leaving briefly in the first after taking an inadvertent stick to the mask from Penguins teammate Ben Lovejoy.
Andrei Markov, Brendan Gallagher and Brian Flynnall scored goals for the Habs, who remain first in the east with 28 points in 17 games.
PK Subban had two assists, while Mike Condon blocked 31 shots, starting his sixth straight game, the result of a lower-body injury for Carey Price.
Michel Therrien’s team will be back in action Saturday night at the Bell Centre against the Colorado Avalanche.
