There are dozens of road work projects ongoing throughout the city, and drivers in Mile End are bracing for more traffic jams next week as construction crews prepare for major road work in the area.

The intersection of St. Viateur St. and Park Ave. will be shut down for three weeks starting Monday.

The seemingly endless construction work in the city appears to be taking a toll on some drivers and local merchants.

Robert Morena of the Montreal landmark St. Viateur Bagel told CTV Montreal he's worried about what this will mean for business.

"It's going to be tough for customers to get in and out, it really is," Morena said.

"If customers can't come get the bagels, what are we gonna do?"

One local city councillor says he isn't happy about it either, but believes there will be benefits in the long run.

"Park Avenue will be better not only underground but above ground after this project is done," said Councillor Alex Norris.

Still, construction continues to be a headache for Montreal drivers. On Saturday and Sunday Sherbrooke St. will close between St. Marc and de la Montagne, as crews begin six months worth of repairs in the area.
