Motorists travelling northbound on the Decarie Expressway can expect a big increase in traffic - starting on March 24 - to last for about nine weeks, as both exits from the 15 onto Highway 20 will be closed until early June.

Transport Quebec released details of the closure Monday in a press release in which they recommended that motorists switch directions to access Highway 20 at the Cote St. Luc exit of Highway 15 N.

The press release did not estimate the number of vehicles expected to be affected by the closure but the repairs will undoubtedly be an inconvenience for many motorists, including the countless trucks that come over the Champlain Bridge in the morning.

Traffic at the intersection of Cote St. Luc and Decarie has also been increased recently due to the permanent closure of the entrance to Highway 20 east at Addington and St. Jacques, which handled about 8,000 vehicles a day. Some of those cars that used that entrance now get on the highway by using the same route recommended by Transport Quebec.
