In a big step forward for Laval the city will stop being under provincial trusteeship as of December 9, 2013.
Laval had been operating under the watch of three trustees since June 2013, resulting from the arrest of former mayor Gilles Vaillancourt, and revelations at the Charbonneau Commission that almost every councillor had been implicated in illegal fundraising.
The trustees, Florent Gagné, Sandra Bilodeau and Sylvie Pierard, have already met with newly-elected Mayor Marc Demers to plan the transition.
